Summer is here, and if you’re like most of us, you want this season to be different—a time to truly recharge so you can show up as your best self for your team, your family, and yourself. But in a world of constant activity, distractions, and relentless schedules, genuine rest can feel out of reach.
I get it. As leaders, carving out real downtime is tough. I’ve struggled to unplug, stop checking my phone, and step away from work too. But over the years, I’ve learned that with a little intention, encouragement, and accountability, we can shift from endless activity to meaningful rest—and it’s absolutely worth it.
Ready for a Real Recharge? Join the 4-Week R&R Challenge!
I’m excited to share a practical, step-by-step challenge designed to help you—and your team—experience real recovery this summer. Here’s how it works:
The 4-Week R&R Challenge
1. Set Your Challenge:
- Week 1: 5 days without scrolling social media
- Week 2: 5 days without watching the news
- Week 3: 5 days without unnecessary consumption (shopping, impulse buys, etc.)
- Week 4: 5 days without morning or evening work (checking emails, calls, last-minute tasks)
2. Put It in Your Calendar:
- Set a Monday morning reminder for each week’s focus.
- Add daily reminders for extra accountability.
3. Make It Realistic:
- If “5 days without” feels tough, try limiting instead (e.g., 10 minutes of social media per day, or watching news just once).
- Choose a challenge that’s both meaningful and doable for you.
4. Reflect Weekly:
- At week’s end, spend 10-15 minutes reflecting:
- How hard was it to give this up?
- What impact did it have on your week?
- How did it affect your well-being?
- What insights or next steps did you discover?
5. Share the Experience:
- Do the challenge solo, with your family, or as a team.
- Encourage others to join—rest and recovery are contagious!
Don’t let summer pass you by without a real break. Start the 4-Week R&R Challenge this Monday, July 14th, and give yourself the gift of true recovery. You deserve it—and the world needs you at your best.
