DIY TEAM ACTIVITY

Kick Off Your Meeting with Laughter:
THE MEME TEAM CHALLENGE

Looking for a way to start your meeting on a high note and bring some humor to the table? “The Meme Team Challenge” is just what you need! This fun, 10 to 15-minute activity is designed to help you get to know your teammates better while enjoying a bit of friendly competition.

15-20 Minutes – Easy to Facilitate – Guaranteed to Get People Laughing

STEP ONE: Pre-Meeting Preparation

  • Email your team a few days ahead of your next meeting or event and ask them to send you a meme (either an image, reel or short video) that makes them laugh out loud. If you have team members who are not sure what a meme is, tell them that a good old-fashioned joke is OK as well. Important: They should email it to you confidentially and not CC the rest of the team.
  • Compile all the memes into a presentation for efficient sharing during the meeting.

STEP TWO: Present & Guess (5-10 minutes)

  • During the meeting, present each meme one at a time without revealing who submitted it.
  • As each meme is shown, have team members write down who they think submitted it.
  • For example, the 3 memes below are from myself and my colleagues Christy and Scott. Guess who you think submitted each one (the answers are at the very bottom of this newsletter).

Memes:

STEP THREE: Reveal the Submitters & Celebrate the Winner! (5 minutes)

  • After all memes have been presented, reveal who submitted each one.
  • Team members will then compare their guesses to see who correctly identified the most submitters.
  • The person who correctly guessed the most meme submitters wins!

This activity is designed to be fun, engaging, and easy to execute, whether your meeting is virtual or in person. Enjoy!

Monthly Inspiration

“In many of the greatest bands, collectives, and collaborations, a degree of polarity between members was part of the formula for greatness. The magic comes from a dynamic tension between different points of view, creating works more distinctive than a lone voice would.

Healthy Tension in a collaboration is not uncommon. Friction allows the fire to come. As long as we’re not attached to having it be our way, we welcome this friction. It’s bringing us closer to the best version of the work at hand.”

“The session with Tim went really well! Our Managing Directors and Senior Leaders felt Tim was a great presenter and would recommend this session for other colleagues. They were highly motivated to apply what Tim shared into their roles and with their teams.

The concept around leadership tensions and that it’s “and” not “but”, really resonated with this audience. They’re looking forward to diving deeper into this with Tim’s book.”
